Advocacy in Action:
Early Learning and Child Care
-
This page highlights our ongoing advocacy to strengthen early learning and child care in Saskatchewan. Through policy engagement, collaboration with sector partners, and sharing evidence-based resources, we are actively working to support a high-quality, accessible, and sustainable child care system.
We are engaged in:
Bringing forward sector priorities to government
Participating in provincial and national discussions
Collaborating with partners to shape policy solutions
Sharing research and evidence to inform decision-making
-
Our advocacy is grounded in the needs of children, families, and educators across Saskatchewan. Current priorities include:
A strong and supported ECE workforce: Fair wages, benefits, and working conditions to recruit and retain qualified educators
Accessible child care spaces: Expansion to meet growing demand across communities
High-quality programs: Investments that support staff, environments, and programming
Equitable and inclusive service: Ensuring all children, including those with diverse needs, can access care
Sustainable public funding: Long-term funding frameworks that support stability and system growth
-
We are actively involved in ongoing advocacy efforts, including:
Contributing to sector reports and policy recommendations
Participating in stakeholder consultations and government engagement
Working with provincial and national partners to align priorities
Amplifying sector voices and emerging issues
These efforts are continuous and evolve as the needs of the sector and communities change.
-
Across our advocacy and the resources shared below, several consistent messages are clear:
The workforce is the foundation of a quality system
Affordability must be matched by expansion and quality improvements
Inclusion requires targeted investment and supports
Sustainable and equitable funding is necessary to support inclusive, accessible, affordable, and high-quality child care
Collaboration across the sector is essential to effective system-building
